Together We Learn More

While speaking with nurse leaders, I am often asked how I became involved in Nurses Network and why it is important to me.

In June 2009, I received an e-mail from Trisha Coady, President of Nurses Network, to participate in a Nurses Technology Adoption survey. I completed the survey and asked her if it would be possible to get a copy of the results as I was presenting at the Georgia Nurses Association in October on the topic of technologies and alternatives that enhance communication along with opportunities to serve the community. Web Conferencing for Nurses Network

So we’ve made a decision not to go with one specific web conferencing tool for web events being held within the Network. First, most of the providers I have been speaking with don’t have a model that allows individuals to host meetings ad lib throughout the year. I thought the best idea might be to build a generic meeting manager where users can enter their respective meeting coordinates – whether they use webex, gotomeeting or other kinds of free or open source tools. The power of personally connecting with patients

My father killed himself shortly after I turned 14. I have often wondered what overwhelmed my father to this point and why he did not reach out for help. As a nurse, I have always believed it took great courage for a patient to go to the emergency department and admit they are experiencing suicidal ideations. (more…)
